It can be not easy to find motivation as a leader, especially in the summer months. This is a traditional time for vacations and a break from routines. Play is essential to rejuvenation and creativity.
Leaders have influence not just because of their abilities but also because they know how to motivate others to develop their talents. In an educational setting, student leaders can influence the growth, motivation, and creativity of students.
My research as a Ph.D. student in educational administration at the University of Saskatchewan focuses on how motivation affects educational leaders and teachers. Education leaders must inspire and motivate others to do the necessary tasks.
I found motivation in myself to make positive changes. This fueled my passion for professional development and competence. After earning a Doctorate in Business Administration and spending ten years as a facilitator and teacher at Jamaican Universities, I moved to Saskatchewan to pursue specialized studies in education.
Inspiring my life has been the encounters I have had with people of all ages and cultures, including young people. This has helped me to develop my academic interest in motivation.
Motivation is the act of moving.
Motivation comes from the Latin verb mover, which means to move. It is, therefore, concerned with movements, actions, and other factors determining them. Theoretically, motivation can be measured differently by each individual. People will engage in certain activities when it is appropriate, depending on their career goals, their experiences, and their esteem. The common numerator and denominator, however, is the drive for success.

When a person knows that their goals will be achieved, they can remain motivated. It can encourage them to strive harder to reach their goals and dreams.
Motivation is a topic of study in education because teachers are constantly faced with the challenge of motivating large groups of people to do certain activities in order to achieve specific outcomes. In a study of teachers at Pakistan’s public sector higher education institutions, it was concluded that it can be achieved when there is commitment and internal aspirations.
Passion, drive, and focus are required to be motivated or to know how to become motivated. Motivating factors for individuals vary depending on their personal and internal factors. For example, the desire for achievement, curiosity, enjoyment, and interest. Some people are motivated by achievements that earn them praise. However, focusing on credit can be a problem for those who don’t understand how behavior affects the outcome.
Conscious motivation
Leadership begins with the entire educational community, including students, parents, and teachers. Transformative leadership is about empowering people to use their abilities and giving them coaching, mentoring, and assistance.
In my research, I explore how researchers could best propose models to understand the effectiveness of principals.
