What To Do After Waxing (And Before! )

Say I wax. Why? You will get better results with this than shaving. It’s convenient. It is less irritating than creams and epilations. Plus, you’re smooth. You’re done.

  • Remind yourself to tell your wax specialist if you are allergic to skin ointments or other products. We’ll also be looking at you if you use or take prescriptions. (Retin A, we’re watching you). Medicines such as tretinoin and isotretinoin (aka retinoic acids) thin the skin. This can cause it to tear when waxing.
  • Do embrace your body. Give yourself a break if you are hesitant to schedule a wax due to a lack of confidence. Practice self-love. We are welcomes everyone and every BODY. This is a judgement-free zone. We would love to have you visit us!
  • Do your diligence: Always go to a wax salon with hygienic practices. Our recommendation this step is crucial: If you skip it, you’re inviting bacteria and other germs to spread (eek!).
  • Grow your hair to the right length. For waxing, hair should be between 1/4 and 3/4 inch in length. Trim it if it is too long. Clean eyebrow scissors are ideal.
  • Do know the difference between waxes? For example, the bikini wax will clean up the area around the panty line and the top. Bikini waxes can be used to remove as much or little hair as desired in the front. Brazilian waxes removes all hair in the front and rear. When it comes to the Brazilian or full bikini, decide what you want. Take everything off, or leave a strip.
  • Keep up your appointments for waxing in Brooklyn. The more you wax, the more the hair follicle is likely to be damaged. The hair will thin. The thinner the hair, the more comfortable the wax in the future. You may also notice that your skin stays hair-free longer if you stick to a regular routine. The hair could stop growing.
  • Recognize that each person’s rate of hair growth is different. If you and your BFF both scheduled waxing for the same date, but your unwanted hair is growing faster than your friend’s, there could be a number of reasons. Hormone levels, genetics and age are all factors.
  • Know that everybody has different skin. You may be more sensitive to waxing than others. You may notice that your skin is redder than a friend, but this should disappear within a couple of days. Read How to soothe the skin after a hair removal.
  • Schedule your appointments within the timeframe. The interval between a Brazilian or bikini wax should be four to six week. Eyebrow Wax and Facial Wax require two to four week intervals. A body wax (legs, arms or chest) is usually four weeks.
  • Wear cotton pants the day before your Brazilian wax or bikini. Cotton underwear may not look the most sexy, but it’s less irritating, and is made of a more breathable material (plus, they are more comfortable). In this regard, tight pants are also not recommended.
  • Relax (within reasonable limits) by doing whatever it is you need to. Alcohol tends to make the skin more sensitive.

Are you considering an brow wax? Schedule it a few weeks before an event. This will help to reduce any redness.

What about a Brazilian or bikini wax? Do book it a day or two before your sleepover with your significant other-slash-current crush-slash-whomever. It is best to wait 24 to 48 hours prior to your busy schedule to a.) Waxing can cause skin irritation.

b.) Give hair follicles enough time to close.

  • Make it easier on yourself by doing. It takes practice to wax the right way. You should leave this to the professionals to avoid irritations and ingrown hairs. Skip the at-home hair removal and visit the salon.

Don’ts After Waxing! (And Before! )

We has a motto that says “Go bare and we’ll cover you” but it’s not just about waxing. You’ll find all the information you need to ensure that your waxing experience is stress-free. Do not be apprehensive when waxing.

If at all possible, do not tan between 24 and 48 hours prior to your wax. Pre-wax tannng makes your skin more sensitive, causing discomfort. After-wax tannng can cause sunburn. After all, waxing removes the dead skin cells on top of your surface. What if you are already sunburned. Wait until your skin has healed before waxing. You can wax your eyebrows, your bikini or your eyebrows.

  • Do not exfoliate for 24 to 48 hours before waxing. This will avoid irritation. Although we strongly recommend exfoliating your skin a few time weekly between waxing appointments, to keep it soft.
  • Do not apply lotions, potions or creams to your skin the day before your waxing. Why? Why? Moisturizers, makeup and other cosmetics can also cause problems on your face. You can interfere with your wax specialist’s ability to create the perfect shape for your brows. Sweating is one do not.
  • Do not shave in between waxing appointments. Shaving can cause ingrown hairs or irritating itching.
  • Don’t scratch the waxed area. This can cause irritation to the newly formed skin. Do not Touch the newly waxed areas. It can spread bacteria and clog up pores.
  • Do not hesitate or delay beginning a waxing routine . The summer is just around the corner and spring break is quickly approaching. Remove unwanted hair. Book your wax now!

Here are the dos and don’ts of waxing. Lengthy? Probably. Important. Definitely!
