The global challenges we have faced in the last couple of years have shown us all the importance of helping each other as well as our local communities. We’re on GiveWell’s top charities listing for 11th consecutive year.
Thankfully, the charity evaluator GiveWell recently released its annual list of the the top charities which are suggested for donations in 2021. GiveWell is an independent non-profit organization that is dedicated in identifying and evaluating the best powerful opportunities for giving across the world and has recognized SCI Foundation as one of its “top charities” for the 11th time in a row.
SCI Foundation, known as the Schistosomiasis Control Initiative until 2019 it supports public health programs to fight preventable diseases such as Schistosomiasis and helminthiasis that is transmitted through soil ( intestinal worms). These infections, which are parasitic, affect one in 6 people across the globe and affect children’s growth and development, their capacity to learn and their future. The treatment for deworming is inexpensive and affordable and helps children realize their potential and fulfill their dreams.

SCI Foundation is the longest running GiveWell-recommended deworming organization
For 2020-21 all by itself, SCI Foundation supported Ministries of Health to provide over 60 million people who received deworming treatments across 13 countries of sub-Saharan Africa. We hope to to sustain our support for these programs as well as other regions at the risk of developing these diseases.
The wide-ranging coverage of the programs we provide, in addition to the impact they have on lives has led to SCI Foundation being the longest time running GiveWell-recommended deworming organization.

This year, we’re striving to get donations to even more effective, working in our Big Give Christmas Challenge to reach 150,000 children who need deworming treatments by launching the Dream Big campaign.
