Unlimit Health – formerly called SCI Foundation – launches an ambitious five-year strategy which will set out a new path to increase health equity by combating parasitic diseases.
The day is today, Unlimit Health – formerly called SCI Foundation – launches an ambitious five-year plan which outlines the direction to increase health equity by tackling parasitic diseases. The strategy is based on an in-depth examination of the ever-changing world health and development.
The strategy recognizes that the progress that has been made over the past 10 years, including the eliminating parasites – was slowed due to the COVID-19 epidemic and the significant decrease in funding. It focuses on the necessity of putting systems resilience and equity to be as the foundation of development efforts and the shift on a non-funder-driven agenda to one based on locally-owned and sustainable issues.
In this way that the organization chose to align its approach to the three pillars of WHO’s (WHO) road map for neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) which allows for more emphasis on programmematic actions, cross-cutting strategies and national ownership. It represents the shift of paradigms from interventions towards health equity and strengthening of the health system.
Wendy Harrison, CEO of Unlimit Health, explains:
“We are aware that NTD programmes go beyond than just tackling parasite-related diseases. They are focused on improving the health and well-being of communities, and establishing an efficient and healthy and sustainable health system that is able to meet the requirements of these communities. With our latest strategy we’ve highlighted our determination to support our partners and the health ministries in reaching that broader objective”.
In line with this new direction the company has been able to adopt “Unlimit Health” to be its brand new title. Yael Velleman director for Policy and Communications, said:
“Our old name did not reflect the goals we’re working towards elimination, strong national system, health equity. We needed a name to enable us to provide funding and implementation of our new plan and be in complete alignment with the requirements that our partner organizations .”
The strategy as well as the new identity were created in collaboration, with assistance from the organization’s allies and partners.
“Unlimit Health” is the name given to it. Unlimit Health comes from the organization’s core mission, health without limits and for everyone. It outlines the motivation of the company to be a positive influence each day to help all people to live in good health and be free of limiting diseases.
The logo is a combination of the letters U which is formed by an organism that lives in a droplet of water.
Unlimit Health has a lofty goal to eradicate parasites in the affected communities around the world. In the coming five years, this organization HTML0will continue to collaborate with countries affected, sharing the latest research and knowledge to eradicate the risk of infection.
It collaborates with the health ministries to create national solutions to eliminate preventable diseases. The organization’s work improves health systems so that people can lead healthy lives without limiting diseases. The foundation was founded in the year 2000 in the form of Schistosomiasis Control Initiative within Imperial College London. Then, it was transformed into an independent entity operating under the name of SCI Foundation. It is now officially registered with the form Unlimit Health.
